GPU Computing is “the new thing” that is gaining popularity amongst all areas of computing. Graphic cards are now increasing the power of modern data centers, bringing super computer performance to workstations and even aiding tasks on regular desktop computers.

This is important. We fit greater performance in the same physical, while cutting back on utility bills space, thus increasing the efficiency of our hardware. An Australian super computer is now considered the greenest one in the country, only because of its efficiency - 555.5MFlops/Watt. Increasing efficiency in one way to lower the carbon footprint and it looks like it works for them.

Skype Is Down, Millions Disconnected

Just when we thought that this Holiday Season is going smoothly, Skype proved us wrong. The service is down and many users are feeling the disconnect. BusinessWeek reports that at 12:21 EST the service appeared to be coming back up again, but millions of users are still experiencing difficulties. Skype have already acknowledged the issue in a tweet: “Some of you may have problems signing in to Skype – we’re investigating, and we’re sorry for the disruption to your conversations.”

PasswordOften the only protection we have online are our passwords. Since passwords are used everywhere - from online banking to common blogs - they are an integral part from of our online presence. Private information is successfully becoming the most valuable resources to come by, so a lot of people are getting more and more paranoid about their privacy.

Each individual spending at least a couple of hours a week online has at least a handful of passwords to remember. It is, however, surprising how most people are still quite negligent when it comes to creating a good password. You will be surprised how people fall for cliches. Well, after all, this is what makes a cliche what it is - a lot of people backing it up.
