2009 Vacation Planning Report Highlights

  • June 6, 2009 Two sites included in our Vacation Planning Report 2009 showed downtime for almost 10 hours. The first one was hotels.com, showing a message "We’re currently upgrading our site to improve the service we offer our customers." mixed with connection time out error (probably caused by that update). This is not the first time that we see this messages on hotels.com, but this time their 'upgrade' took almost 10 hours - from midnight till 9:35A.M. At almost the same time, travelnow.com was completely inaccessible with Connection timeout errors. This error was confirmed from all monitoring locations included in our report, and judging from the type of the error there was a severe problem. The downtime was from midnight till 9:38A.M. The daily Average Response time from all monitored websites was 7.933 sec.; the daily Average Uptime - 91.93%
  • June 2, 2009 Network problems with priceline.com. "Error receiving network data" was reported by WebSitePulse monitoring agents for all locations included in our Vacation Planning Report. The average downtime of the site was for 45-50 minutes, although this type of error means that the remote web server was not sending the whole content of the requested page. In this case the end-users can still browse parts of the site, but facing just part of the page with progress bar which never gets to the end is not very pleasant experience. The daily Average Response time from all monitored websites was 7.357 sec.; the daily Average Uptime - 99.58%
