2011 Vacation Planning Report Highlights
- June 2, 2011 Yesterday two sites had serious difficulties in the early hours of the day. Around 4:15 AM both www.orbitz.com and www.cheaptickets.com went down and their servers returned “500 – Internal Server Error”. This situation continued for about 40 minutes. By 5 AM both sites had already recovered and provided flawless service for the rest of the day.
One of the other sites – www.travelnow.com – did not have the same issues. However, what it did have were multiple timeouts in the period between 10 AM and 6 PM. There were a number of times during the day when the site responded way slower than usual, which must have been really frustrating for the end-users trying to book their vacation.
The other sites included in the report did not experience any issues and were able to deliver the performance that fully meets their end-users’ expectations. - June 1, 2011 It must have been a busy day yesterday, at least for www.travelnow.com. Their site experienced two serious outages in the early evening hours. The site was barely reachable after 5 PM with terrible delays and timeouts of over 100 seconds. This continued to 5:30 PM only to begin again at 7:40 PM . Again, the site could not deliver content even if the users were patient enough to wait. The situation lasted for about 20 minutes but after 8 PM the service was back on track.
The other sites included in the report did not experience any major issues and were able to deliver the performance that fully meets their end-users’ expectations.
