WebSitePulse 2016 Vacation Planning Websites Performance & Uptime Report

Vacation season is near and you might want to start planning your summer vacation if you haven’t done it already. The best way to plan and book your vacation is by no doubt via the Internet. It’s now easy to compare prices, read objective reviews of places and services, and make up your mind as to where and how long you’d like to go.

Of course, online booking has its flaws as now vacationers have to choose from thousands of websites, some of which could be scams collecting personal data or offering unreasonably high prices. And you just have to be cautious. In order to stay competitive and look trustworthy, vacation websites have to not only focus on the content and design, but the website’s performance as well. And by “performance” we mean the website’s response time and uptime. The slower the website and the lower its uptime is, the more clients will go to competitors’ websites and never return.

These websites must be particularly prepared to bear the heavy traffic during the vacation season or else – they may crash, freeze and/or slow down while visitors are browsing on them.

To see how they are performing, we decided to monitor some of the most popular websites for vacation booking. We will be keeping an eye on their response time and uptime and will be reporting their stats on a daily basis from May 20th until June 30th, 2016.

The WebSitePulse Performance Reports will measure the websites’ uptime and response time as the most important metrics for the availability and the reliability of any web-based operation, critical for the End Users' overall online experience. Measurements of web transactions will be made every 15 minutes, simultaneously from 4 different monitoring locations. In-depth analytical information is also collected and stored in the WebSitePulse system for future references. The WebSitePulse Application Monitoring service is used to collect data and produce the Report.
