WebSitePulse 2018 Mother's Day Retail Performance and Uptime Report

The spring is already here and it is that time of the year when we all appreciate one of our dearest and loved people – our mothers. Mother’s Day 2018 is just a few days away – on May 13th. On that day we celebrate the love to the mother of the family, motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

Since 2009 there is a steady increase in Mother’s Day gift shopping. Back then the US total estimated spending was $14.1B and total Mother's Day spending this year is estimated to reach $23.1B (according to nrf.com). 86% of the Americans plan to celebrate Mother’s Day 2018 with an average spent of almost $180 per person.

The top planned expenditure on Mother's Day gifts in the United States in 2018 by category are jewelery ($4.6B), special outings ($4.4B), flowers ($2.6B), gift cards ($2.5B). The list goes on.

Most of the gifts are expected to be bought in department stores all over the country (35%). However 31% of the consumers plan to buy their gifts online. That is why, as we do every year, we will monitor 12 of the most popular gift shopping websites until this year’s Mother’s Day is over.

We at WebSitePulse, as a monitoring company, can’t stress more on the importance of monitoring your websites, servers and online transactions 24/7, especially when heavy traffic is expected, just to make sure their performance and availability is spotless. As a result, you will avoid revenue loss and will retain your clients.

After Mather’s Day 2018 is over, we will summarize the results and see how our monitored targets performed.
