WebSitePulse 2025 Holiday Retail Performance and Uptime Report Intro

The 2025 holiday season begins with excitement as Black Friday and Cyber Monday once again kick off weeks of celebration, festive spirit, and joyful shopping.

This year's holiday rush brings generous discounts and irresistible promotions, creating the perfect opportunity for families and friends to gather, choose meaningful gifts, and enjoy seasonal traditions. As holiday lights glow and anticipation grows, these major shopping events signal the start of a season filled with giving, warmth, and memorable moments.

The festive journey continues toward Christmas, bringing comfort, joy, and cherished time with loved ones. The season then concludes with the sparkle of New Year's Eve, as people reflect on the year behind them and welcome 2026 with hope, excitement, and new beginnings.

The 2025 U.S. holiday shopping season is projected to grow by 3.7% to 4.2%, with total retail sales expected to reach between $1.01 trillion and $1.02 trillion, according to NRF. This milestone would mark the first time the U.S. holiday season (Nov 1st through Dec 31st) surpasses $1 trillion.

The growth comes despite headwinds such as inflation, tariffs, and cautious consumer sentiment. Online and non-store sales are expected to rise by 8% to 9%, reaching about $312.2 billion to $315 billion. Retailers are responding with earlier promotions and deeper discounts to attract value- seeking shoppers.

The holiday season remains a crucial period for online retailers, fueled by increased consumer spending on gifts, seasonal products, and last-minute purchases. Shoppers continue to appreciate the ease and speed of buying online, especially during the busy weeks leading up to Christmas. Retailers capitalize on this demand by rolling out holiday-focused promotions, from Black Friday and Cyber Monday to extended December sales. The growing use of digital gift cards and e-gifting also drives higher online revenue, making the season one of the most profitable times of year for e- commerce brands.
