WebSitePulse 2023 Valentine's Day Online Retail Performance and Uptime Report

Valentine's Day is a special occasion celebrated annually on February 14th. It is a day dedicated to showing love and affection to the special people in our lives, whether romantic love or love for friends and family. As Valentine's Day approaches, many start planning romantic gestures and gifts to make it extra special for their loved ones. From candlelit dinners to thoughtful surprises, there are many ways to express love on this day.

Americans are planning to spend $25.9 billion on 2023 St. Valentine's day, according to NRF, which is $2 billion more than last year's Valentine's day spending. 52% of the consumers intend to spend an average of $192.80 (around $17.40 more than in 2022).

The top gifts this year include candy (57%), greeting cards (40%), flowers (37%), an evening out (32%), jewelry (21%), gift cards (20%), and clothing (19%). Americans plan to spend more than $5.5 billion on jewelry and nearly $4.4 billion on a memorable night out.

With more than one-third (35%) of the gifts being bought online, the e-stores that want more significant profit must prepare for heavier traffic, perfect uptime, and fast web transactions to satisfy their customers' needs.

For the 16th year, WebSitePulse will monitor X of the most popular gift websites. This Performance Report will measure the websites' uptime and response time as the most critical metrics for any web store's availability and reliability.

Web transactions will be measured every 15 minutes simultaneously from 3 different monitoring locations. In-depth analytical information is also collected and stored in the WebSitePulse system for future reference.
