WebSitePulse 2021 Valentine's Day Online Retail Performance and Uptime Report

St. Valentine's Day — the biggest romantic holiday is at our doorsteps. It is celebrated worldwide annually on February 14. Usually, a vast amount of money is spent on the exact date for romantic dinner, chocolates, Valentine's cards, and flowers. Also, significant amounts of money are spent on gifts and presents for loved ones before the exact day.

In 2021, over half the adult Americans (52%) will celebrate Valentine's Day, and nearly three- quarters of them feel it is essential to do so, given the current state of the pandemic. It is predicted the total spending will be $21.8 billion — 54% on candy, 44% on greeting cards, 36% on flowers, 24% on evening out, 21% on gift cards, 18% on jewelry, among others (according to the nrf.com).

38% of the presents are predicted to be bought online this year, meaning heavier traffic is expected to all online gift shops. The rivalry will be challenging, and only the online stores that are well prepared will receive bigger profits.

For the 14th year in a row, WebSitePulse will monitor 7 of the most popular gift websites. This Performance Report will measure the websites' uptime and response time as the most critical metrics for the availability and the reliability of any web store.

Measurements of web transactions will be made every 15 minutes, simultaneously, from 3 different monitoring locations.

In-depth analytical information is also collected and stored in the WebSitePulse system for future references.
